Der Alpinestars SMX-5R verfügt über ein EPS-Innenschalensystem mit unterschiedlichen Dichtegraden, das für eine progressive Energieabsorption bei verschiedenen Aufprallwinkeln entwickelt wurde. Die Außenschale besteht aus einem hochmodularen Kohlefaserverbundwerkstoff, der ein außergewöhnliches Verhältnis von Festigkeit zu Gewicht bietet und im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Glasfaserkonstruktionen die Rotationskräfte bei schrägen Aufprallwinkeln deutlich reduziert. Für den Innenkomfort sorgt ein feuchtigkeitsableitendes, herausnehmbares und waschbares Innenfutter mit integrierten Wangenpolstern, die Druckstellen minimieren und gleichzeitig einen sicheren Sitz gewährleisten.
